DESK 3-6 R is an instrument for early detection of developmental deviations in preschoolers, allowing for early intervention. The test is compliant with PISA’s requirements for children’s initial preparation (to ensure an equal start) before they enter the school system. In addition, the test can reveal potential behavioral problems – externalized (aggression) or internalized (anxiety).
DESK 3-6 R is based on the so-called landmark principle (Michaelis, 2004) – the idea that children’s mastery of certain age-related skills needs to be between 90-95%, in order for them to progress successfully to the following developmental stage.
DESK 3-6 R is applicable for children aged 3 to 6.
The test identifies potential risks early, before they manifest as problems in the child’s development.
When applying the test, an example game script can be used, which makes the assessment fun and enjoyable for the child. In this way, the main information is obtained directly by interacting with the child. Parents can then supply additional information, where a certain item is not detected during the assessment.
There is a detailed description of the administration process, as well as the assessment criteria for each item.
Results are automatically analyzed in Examinea. The system then generates a graphic interpretative report with the results, as well as practical guidelines.
The test can be applied by – child and adolescent psychologists, school psychologists and behavior support staff, counsellors, speech therapists, SEN teachers and staff, social workers, educators and any other specialists, working with children.
